Abstract

The purpose of this study was 10 invesrigcue the knowledge, attitudes and beliefs of
mell about sexual and reproductive health in Bahir Dar. A sample of 400 men with
an age range of 18 to 55 participated in the study. A questionnaire adapted/rom
Adamchak. Bond. MacLnrell, Magrumi. Nelsoll and Selfler (2000) with 68 items
was employed to gather the data. The resulls indicated thallhe participants seem
10 have a good level of knowledge. positive aTtitudes and beliefs about sexual aOO
reproductive health issues. It \1'as found thai the participants know where to get
contraceptives, whom to consult when they seek information or support regarding
sexual arlfl reproducrive health, and which type of contraceptive mefhods to
employ. Although their knowledge level is generally high alld their attitudes.
values and beliefs are positive. it does not necessarily mean that they practice
them. In order to f ully explain their behaviour. it is imperative to assess the extent
to which they put them in practice.
