Abstract

This study provides informatioll on the factors affecting adoptioll and the
impact of wheat technologies. It also identifies the adoptioll rates alld
pauerns of adoption ofwhenttechnologies in the study area.
The study was based 011 the data collected using from 124 randomly
selected households. TIle survey was conducted sfructured questionnaire. In
addition, secondary data collected from relevant sources were IIsed to
substantiate the primary data.
Tobit model was used to idelllify factors affecting adoption and intensity of
use of improved wheat varieties. Fourteen explanat01Y variables were
ineluded in the model. Among these fertilizer lise, income and access to
credit lVere important factors influencing adoption and intensity of use of
improved wheat varieties. The impacts of improved wheat varieties also
portray the increase of the farmers' production of wheat varieties alld
improve their incomes as farmers adopted wheat technologies. 71le
